General Information

This course is NFPA compliant and covers all six disciplines of technical rescue.  Students will utilize the latest and greatest equipment and will put learned skills to the test in intense hands-on scenarios.  More general information on the Certified Rescue Technician Program.

Special Requirements

  • All students must supply a fit for duty form, with chief’s signature.

  • Students must supply a copy of a valid 36-Hour Volunteer, 240 Basic Firefighter certificate, or equivalent with registration form.

  • Attendance and demonstration of competency is mandatory to receive certification in each discipline.

  • It is recommended that you purchase and bring a structural collapse and rope rigger’s guide.

Helmet, preferably rescue type, boots with ankle support, gloves, safety glasses or goggles and appropriate clothing for working outdoors.

Confined Space Technician

April 21–23

Safety glasses or goggles, rescue or fire helmet, safety toe boots, work gloves, knee/elbow pads, coveralls, air pack, and flashlight.

Water Rescue Operations

May 19–21

Swim suit, old shoes

Auto/Machine Extrication

June 9–10

Full firefighting turn-out gear and protective glasses or goggles and work gloves.

Structural Collapse Operations

July 14–17

Safety glasses or goggles, rescue or fire helmet, safety toe boots, work gloves, knee/elbow pads, coveralls, hearing protection, framing hammer, tape measure, nail apron, and half-face respirator with P100 filter or equivalent.

Trench Rescue Technician

August 11–13

Safety glasses or goggles, rescue or fire helmet, safety toe boots and work gloves. Recommended: kneepads, coveralls, hearing protection, framing hammer, tape measure, and nail apron.
