Former Instructor and Honorary Dean, Franklin "Frank" D. Parcher, passed away Friday, July 10

Franklin "Frank" D. Parcher, 74, of Findlay, passed away at 2:20 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born on February 27, 1935, to the late Calvin A. and Laura M. (Wrasse) Parcher. He married Faye L. Zellers on September 27, 1959, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Rodney J. Jr.) Wilhelm, of Findlay; grandsons: Rodney J. "R.J." Wilhelm III and Ryan J. Wilhelm, both of Findlay and a sister-in-law, Patrica Parcher of Sun City West, AZ. A brother, Harold E. Parcher also preceded him in death. Frank was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Findlay. He had served as a member on their council, taught Sunday School and participated on the church Dartball Team. He also participated on the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Dartball Team. Frank was employed at Dow Chemical where he retired in 1988 after 26 years and then Spectrulite Consortium, Inc. from 1988 to 1998. He served as chief on each of his employer's fire brigades. Frank was one of the original members of the Hancock County Firefighters Association. He served as secretary, vice-president and president of the association. He has been the association's training program coordinator for many years and has maintained the association's library as well. He has also been the association's Teen "Docu-Drama" Coordinator since the beginning of the program, as well as the "Danger Zone" at the Hancock County Fair each year. He taught Industrial Fire Brigade for over 14 years for the State Fire School and was named "Honorary Dean" in May of 1996. Frank has been a Red Cross volunteer for 25 years. He has served as a Board/Committee member, Chairman of the Aid to Military Families Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Disaster Committee and First Aid Committee. He worked as a greeter at bloodmobiles and made blood runs to Toledo throughout the years. He has also been awarded the Red Cross "Clara Barton Honor Award" for Meritorious Volunteer Leadership. He also served on the Military Selective Service Board and was a member of the EMA and LEPC organization's. In 1999, Frank was the recipient of the JCPenny Golden Rule Award.
