John Curlis is the Fire Safety Officer at BGSU. He has been in the fire service for 35 years, 30 of those as an instructor. After 10 years with State Fire School, he is now a member of the State Fire School Advisory Board. He has taught courses on ventilation for 12 years with the Northwest Ohio Fire School, and is on the Fire Advisory Board for the Vanguard-Sentinel Schools in Fremont and Tiffin, OHio. He presently teaches Fire Service Training at Vanguard -Sentinel Schools, the Apollo Career Center, and State Fire School. John was a member of the Upper Sandusky Fire Department for 26 years, and Assistant Chief for 16 years. He is presently training officers for the Sycamore Fire-Rescue Department.
