Basic Fire Investigation - NFPA 921

 

Description
This course is for the new fire investigators and complies with NFPA 1033, "Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators" and NFPA 921, "Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations." This is a tested course that will cover: Fire Behavior, Building Construction, Fire Scene Documentation, Fire Cause Determination, Basic Interviewing, Legal Aspects of Fire Investigation, Evidence Collection, Report Preparation, and Courtroom Testimony. This is also a hands-on investigation class - participants will actually investigate room and contents fires, and several vehicle fire scenarios.

Special Requirements
Enrollment is limited to personnel appointed as law enforcement or fire department investigators, and insurance investigators or adjusters. Bring protective eyewear, boots, gloves, and a helmet.

Required Textbook
You must purchase and bring NFPA 921 (2008 Edition).

Approved for 1 credit hour
