Description For all intermediate EMTs and paramedics who want an opportunity to observe and perform skills on a deeply anesthetized animal* in a controlled clinical setting.
You will gain hands-on practice with pleural decompression, intraosseous infusion, needle cricothyrotomy, cardiac monitoring and electrical therapy. You will be able to observer perfusing cardiorespiratory anatomy, as well as the effects of IV infusion and cardiac drug therapy.
*Animal use in this lab is approved by the University of Toledo Division of EMS Education and IACUC. The University of Toledo Division of EMS Education animal care program is USDA registered and inspected, and is AAALAC, Inc. accreditied.
This three-hour lab will be offered at the University of Toledo Division of EMS Education. This is hands-on experience that will compare to the normal body and organs to those with diseases. 3.0 EMS CEUs, Accreditation number 322.
Please report directly to University (of Toledo) Medical Center at 3000 Arlington Avenue, Toledo, OH 43614. You should park in Lot 3.
You will meet your instructors in the lobby of the Health Education Building.
