Description This class is for rescuers who need essential rope rescue skills to deal with hazards such as buildings, cliffs, towers, pits, wells, tanks, silos, trees, embankments and bridges. The instruction will include the fundamentals of rope rescue, using only the most up-to-date equipment and techniques with an emphasis on safety. Classroom topics will include terminology, equipment selection, current standards and essential knots. You will learn personal and team skills through practical application of rope rescue systems, encompassing anchor systems, belay systems, rappelling and ascending, lowering systems, litter packaging and mechanical-advantage raising systems. You will analyze systems and solve problems in both low-angle and vertical environments. Special Requirements Participants must have helmets, gloves, safety glasses or goggles and appropriate clothing for working outdoors.
