Emergency Vehicle Maintenance, Testing and Inspection

 

Description
For fire department officers, drivers-operators, engineers, maintenance personnel and members of the new apparatus specification committee.
 
The following NFPA standards will be covered: 1915 (Preventive Maintenance and Inspections); 1071 (Qualifications and Certifications); 1911 (Pump Testing);and 1901 (New Apparatus Specifications). The syllabus is designed to provide basic orientation and familiarization with all aspects of emergency vehicle purchase, inspection, maintenance and testing. You will gain actual hands-on pump testing and inspection experience. Lectures will enhance your technical knowledge of the mechanical aspects of the emergency vehicle and provide valuable information to be used during the purchase of vehicles. You will gain a basic understanding about and learn to troubleshoot the mechanical and electrical systems of: engines with Exhaust Gas Recirculation, transmissions with electronic controls, and electronics and tools necessary to perform diagnostics. This will include hand-held diagnostic equipment (Digital DVOM and Pro-Links) and computer-based diagnotics (DDDL and DOC).
