Description
For all fire brigade and municipal firefighters who may be exposed to petrochemical emergencies.
 
You will gain extensive, intense experience fighting live fires involving petrochemicals and will be exposed to a wide variety of emergencies involving hazardous materials. Classroom work includes the chemistry of fires and planning to familiarize with hazards at your worksite. Field work includes a workshop on foam, tactical use of master streams, wheeled units, and handlines. You will learn how to analyze specific fire situations and determine the correct action to safely and effectively handle special fire emergencies.

Special Requirements
This class is designed for experienced brigade members and municipal firefighters (36-hour certification minimum). Full turn-out gear, fire retardant clothing and SCBA are required. No beards allowed. This class is conducted at the BP Oil Refinery in Oregon, Ohio (approximately 40 miles from BGSU). You are responsible for your own transportation. Hotel accomodations are available in the Oregon area.
