Description
For all firefighters who need to learn critical self rescue techniques and skills for rescue teams. Aggressive fire ground searches save lives, the clock starts ticking before you even arrive. The amount of time it takes to find a victim determines the chance of survival. Training will be realistic and to the point. This course will teach rapid intervention skills by incorporating Firefighter Survival, Firefighter Rescue and Rapid Intervention Team Operations. When a RIT deploys into a burning building for a MAYDAY, each team member is taxed to the limit physically and mentally. You will learn individual and team skills. Teams will be ?deployed? into a series of real-life scenarios where they will work to overcome obstacles that simulate MAYDAY parameters. Every year, 5 to 10 firefighters die and untold numbers experience near miss situations due to a failure to understand the Point of No Return. You will be given the chance to practice everything you learn to buy yourself the time needed to survive. This class will teach skills which include SCBA emergencies, MAYDAY, disorientation emergencies, searching for, assessing and packaging a firefighter and performing as a RIT officer. You will also experience the flashover simulator for a chance to see the warning signs of a flashover.
