Description For firefighters who wish to complete their instructor certification with a combination
of concentrated class work and online learning. This class has been approved by
the ODPS/Fire Training Committee to be delivered in this format exclusively by Bowling Green State
University. The in-class portion is taught at BGSU and the workbook must be completed by the last day of class. The remaining course hours will be completed online. Students will then return to BGSU for teach-backs and live fire training. Special Requirements Prior to entrance to this class, you must show proof of passing (80%) the FF Level II exam
within the past 12 months. The FFII exam can be taken at any chartered agency, including BGSU.
Candidates must have no fewer than five years work experience as a firefighter, including the three
years immediately prior to submission of an application for instructor status. You must submit proof
of completion of IC-100 and IC-700 prior to receiving certification. You will need to have Microsoft
Word installed on the computer that you will use for this class. The online portion of the class
takes approximately 6 to 10 hours a week, depending on your computer skill level. Required Textbook You must purchase and bring Fire Service Instructor, Principles and Practice and workbook, published by Jones and Bartlett.
