Description For all firefighters who want to take their rescue and firefighting skills up to the next level.
This class is for you if you want to learn how it is done in the "real world" and you don't mind being tired at the end of the day. Come prepared to work hard and learn a lot from your experienced instructors who will focus on the "street smarts" of ladder company operations. You will gain hands-on experience with standard truck company riding positions and tool assignments, conventional and through-the-lock forcible entry techniques, aggressive primary searches, wide area searches, vent-enter searches, thermal imaging, roof-top and horizontal ventilation. You'll also learn safe but aggressive ladder placement and how to deal with obstacles such as burglar bars, steel doors, energy-efficient windows, and security shutters. Special Requirements You must bring full NFPA-approved protective turn-out gear with SCBA and a spare bottle. Instructors will inspect gear and reserve the right to reject any found to be unacceptable. Also, bring a flashlight and a 20-foot piece of webbing.
