Description This class meets the mandated 36-hour training requirement under Chapter 4765.55 of the Ohio Revised Code. The curriculum includes fire behavior, self-contained breathing apparatuses, forcible entry, ventilation, rescue, safety, ladders, fire hose, nozzles and appliances and fire streams. Special Requirements You must be 18 years old and have completed high school. Bring completed NFPA-approved turn-out gear and SCBA with one spare tank. BEARDS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Prior to the class you must complete federal required training online. You must submit proof of completion of IC-100 and IC-700. The course can be accessed through your fire department or at www.fema.gov.
All required chapters must be completed in the workbook before the last day of class and before you are allowed to take the certification exam. It is strongly suggested that you complete the required chapters in the workbook before you come to the first day of class. Required chapters: 1–4,6 and 8–15. Required Textbook You must purchase and bring Essentials of Firefighting, Fifth Edition and Workbook.
